Cherie Leah Collier Colwell, "Keeper of the Skies", 54, of Keokuk, died Thursday, May 14, 2015 at her home. She was born on April 6, 1961 in Ft. Madison, IA, the daughter of James Larry and Rose Etta Paris Collier. Cherie graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1979. In 1988 she was united in marriage to Tyrone Colwell in Keokuk and they later divorced. She had been employed at Methode, Tipenbuds and the Keokuk Elks Club. In her younger years, Cherie enjoyed riding horses. Cherie loved music and liked to go to concerts to hear Aerosmith and other bands. She also enjoyed hunting for geodes and arrowheads and taking photographs of her family. Cherie loved her family very much and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She is survived by her father, James Larry Collier of Keokuk, one son, Derek Frazier (Raegan Longshore) of Keokuk, two daughters, Ashley Nicole Colwell Eldredge (Kyle) of Colorado Springs, CO and Heather Danielle Colwell (Maria Tijerina) of Ft. Madison, eight grandchildren, Hallei Frazier, Aubrey Frazier, Alivia Frazier, Kinleigh Frazier, Ethan Frazier, Lydia Danielle Eldredge, Skyler Leah Rose Cale, Scarlett Luna Ashlyn Colwell, two sisters, Michelle Collier and Rhonda Fields of Florida, one nephews, Samuel Kerfoot, one niece, Emily Kerfoot, two great-nephews, Jace and Dalton Kerfoot and her sisters-in-spirit, Mary Stark and Tonya Happs. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Golliher, one sister, Vicky Kerfoot, her great-aunt and uncle who helped raise her, Etta & Truman Stephenson, her great-uncle Glenn Jones and her great-grandparents Eassie & Wayne Hackard. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.
