Charlotte B. Hays, 90, of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, June 17 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born November 21, 1918 in Keokuk IA, the daughter of Robert and Lilly Saxxe Kayser. She first married Albert Keppel II and later went on to marry Roy A. Hays on June 28, 1952. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons , Albert Keppel III and his wife Kathleen of Keokuk, IA, Johnnie Keppel and his wife Teresa of Keokuk, IA, one daughter Margaret Bauswell and her husband Ronnie of Galesburg, IL, ten grandchildren, Therese Neff and her husband Jim of Keokuk, IA, Albert Keppel IV and his wife Michelle of Keokuk, IA, Marsha Jairl and her husband Brian of Keokuk, IA, Gary Keppel and his wife Heather of Louisiana, Amanda Parmenter of Boone, IA, Chastity Kearns and her husband Chris of Montrose, IA, Jeremy Bauswell and his wife Karina of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dawn Bauswell of Galesburg, IL, Jessica Merritt and her husband Justin of Galesburg, IL, Justina Bauswell of Florida, one sister, Geraldine Davis of Montrose, IA, one sister-in-law, Wynola Kayser of Keokuk, IA, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Carry Kayser, John Kayser, George Kayser, and Robert "Bob" Kayser, two sisters, Frankie Rosencrans, and Dorothy Brookhart, and one granddaughter. Charlotte had been employed at the Chuck Wagon restaurant as a cook for 17 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Keokuk, IA.
Charlotte loved to listen to music and to go dancing. She enjoyed playing rummy with her sister Deanie and all the time they spent together was special. She loved spending time with her family and friends and taking car rides with Roy down by the river.
A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 20 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Dale Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.
