Charlotte Kay Derr, 59, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Keokuk, IA, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2020 at her home in Colorado Springs surrounded by her loved ones.
Charlotte was born in Denver, Colorado on September 7, 1960 to Ross William Sutcliffe and Julia Cassidy. Charlotte was united in marriage to Danny Derr on December 30, 1983 in Eldorado, TX. They were married for thirty-seven years.
Charlotte flourished as a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and true friend to many people. Charlotte loved everything about supporting her family and all that it encompassed. She was always active in her children and grandchildren's lives and enthusiastically supported them in all they did. Charlotte was extremely talented and loved the outdoors. She was an avid gardener, rock collector and driftwood artist. Charlotte enjoyed wind therapy on the back of a motorcycle, cooking delicious meals and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Brenda Sutcliffe of Keokuk, IA and Shari Stonehouse (Richard) of Colorado Springs, CO, her son, Dustin Derr (Sara) of Keokuk, IA, and her adored grandchildren Ashley, Blake, Alexis, Gavriella, Kimberly, Gage, Jasper, Trystan, Damon, Kahlen and Cash as well as her great-granddaughter Izabella. She is also survived by her mother, Julia Cassidy of Nevada, MO, brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. In addition to her immediate family, Charlotte invited countless friends into her home which became extended family members. She was the center of her family, a doting "Grams", a force to be reckoned with, a free spirit with an adventurous soul who loved unconditionally. She will be missed beyond words.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, Ross William Sutcliffe, one brother, Larry Jo Sutcliffe, one grandson, Gavin Joseph Cole Moore, and others.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 23 at 5 p.m. at The Crossing, 610 Timea Street in Keokuk, with Pastor Jason Harting officiating. A time of food and fellowship for friends and family will be held following the service at the church.
