Obituary

Charlotte "Char" Marlene Boone Long, 79, of West Point, IA, died Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison, IA. She was born on August 22, 1935 in Warsaw, IL, the daughter of Frank F.M. and Minnie Leota Taylor Boone. On December 17, 1955, Charlotte was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Long in Quincy, IL and they spent the next 59 years sharing a special love and raising their family. Bob survives. She is also survived by her son, Steve Long, of Warsaw, IL, one grand daughter, Shannon (Long) Chilson and her husband Jason of Portage, WI, two great-granddaughters, Julia and Savannah Chilson and one sister, Elaine Traman of Keokuk, She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Maxine Winkler and Wilma Knipe. Charlotte had been employed at Sheaffer Pen in Ft. Madison for forty years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Lutheran Church. Most recently she had attended First Christian Church in Keokuk. Charlotte was a very giving person and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed traveling, especially with her granddaughter. She adored her great-granddaughters and loved spending time with them. An informal Celebration of Charlotte's life was held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
