Charles E. "Rocky" Mason, 78, of Dallas City, IL died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at his home.
He was born October 14, 1928 in Keokuk, IA the son of Robert A. and Hester Anna Lobb Mason. Charles was united in marriage to Shirley Joline Weller in Luray, MO. She preceded him in death on March 11, 1988.
Rocky served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WW II and in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Rocky was employed at the Keokuk Steel Castings for over 20 years before his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Loyal order of the Moose.
Rocky loved to go to flea markets and garage sales to find a deal. He also enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherri Goodman of Apple Valley, MN and Brenda Padgett of Dallas City, IL, two sons, Doug Mason and his wife Juanita of North Carolina and James Mason of Dallas City, IL, 6 grandchildren, Peggy Hanson, David Goodman, Chris Mason, Betsy Mason, Ray Mason and Katie Mason, one step-great grandchild, Darius McCray, two sisters, Hazel Skow of Argyle, IA, and Clara Sear of Rhode Island.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Dale Mason in 1986.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Rev. Bill Olmsted officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. Wednesday with the family meeting with friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
