Charles C. Martin, Jr., 90, of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. Charles was the only son of Charles R. and Nora Daughters Martin. He was born in his grandparent's home in Keokuk on Sunday, March 4, 1923 at 6 p.m., delivered by Dr. William Rankin. Charles graduated from Keokuk High School. He lived in Keokuk all of his life except for three years when he was in the Naval Medical Corps working as a medical technician. While serving in the Navy, Charles was stationed in Farragut, ID, New Orleans, LA, and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. After his discharge he returned to his first love of retail sales. He had been employed by Bartholomew Paint and Wallpaper and Linquist Furniture in Keokuk. He enjoyed wood crafts, working crossword puzzles and scrap booking. Charles was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed reading the Bible and memorizing scriptures. He is survived by cousins and his special love, Jennie LaFever. He was preceded in death by his parents. A graveside service with military rites were held 10 a.m. Friday, July 26th, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Wesley Davis officiating.
