Charles "Chuck" Gardner, 59 of Keokuk, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at his home. He was born on August 28, 1954 in Keokuk the son of Carl W. and Wilma Jean Lipper Gardner. Chuck was graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1972. He started working at Hill Printing when he was fourteen years old. He had been employed by Foil Graphics and was a self employed printer for the last fifteen years. Chuck was a member of the South Side Boat Club in Keokuk and the Printer's Union. Chuck was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed watching them on television and listening to all of their games on the radio. He recently had the most memorable time of his life, when his friends held a fundraiser for him. He is survived by one sister, Linda James and her husband Russ of Keokuk, special companion, Susan Marshall of Keokuk, two step-sons, Danny Washburn and his wife Jamie of Keokuk and Joel Washburn of Sunnyville, CA and two nephews, Jeff James and his wife Karen of Elmhurst, IL and Jason James and his wife Deanna of Keokuk, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl W. Gardner, his mother, Wilma Jean Decker, his step-father, Carl Decker and one niece, Kristina James. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk. In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to the Keokuk Humane Society.
