Charles "Charlie" Bird, 74, of Keokuk, Iowa died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born February 25, 1933 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Harry and Georgeanna Pearl Schofield Bird. On January 21, 1955 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Hutson in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Linda Fojtik and granddaughter Maggie Vaughan both of Keokuk, Iowa, two sisters Maxine Allen of Hamilton, IL and Ruth Hall of Keokuk, Iowa, special brother in law Norman Allen and brothers in law and sisters in law David and Lorena Brown, Verne and LuAnn Hutson and Claude and Loretta Hutson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Glenn Bird, grandson, Cory Bird, three brothers, Glen, Carl and William Bird and two sisters, Doris Helberg and Mary Ellen Davis and brothers in law, Ted Helberg, Smokey Davis, Ora Hall. For 39 years Charles worked for Steel Castings in Keokuk, Iowa as a maintenance crane operator retiring in 1995. He was a loving husband and father and especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter. Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, Iowa.
