Obituary

Carson Edwin Hibbert, 79, of Keokuk, IA died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Timberpoint Healthcare Center in Camp Point, IL. He was born on November 7, 1936 in Quincy, IL, the son of John Chester and Loretta M. Morton Hibbert. He had been a resident of Keokuk for the past twelve years. He studied Accounting and Business Law in college. He was first employed with the FBI as a fingerprint technician. He then worked for United Airlines as a computer operator for eight years. He later worked at Moormans in Quincy and at National Life in Bowling Green, MO for ten years. He then was employed with the United States Postal Service in St. Louis, MO as a letter carrier and worked at Lambert Airfield as a night watchman as a second job. He retired from the USPS in 1986 after twenty-four years of service. Carson was a member for the First Christian Church of Keokuk, IA. For over thirty five years Carson enjoyed collecting stamps. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by four sons, Ron (Christy) Hibbert of Mendon, IL, Michael (Sylvia) Hibbert of Farmington, UT, Dr. Paul (Jackie) Hibbert of Pittsfield, IL and Steven Hibbert of St. John, MO, two daughters, Laura Lee (Brent) Harness of Lima, IL and Mary Ann Hibbert of Eureka, MO, twenty-two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Eva Ann (Don) Wallace of Camp Point, IL and Jean Jeffery of Monroe City, MO, two brothers, John (Janice) Hibbert of Quincy, IL and Carlton (Judy) Hibbert of Des Plaines, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel Rae Harness, one brother, Curtis J. Hibbert and a brother in law, Jack Jeffery. A celebration of his life was held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Paloma, IL with Rev. David Turner officiating. Burial was in the Paloma Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Camp Point Public Library.
