Carrissa Rivers, 29, of Keokuk, died Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Keokuk Area Hospital.
She was born on September 27, 1987 in Springfield, MA, the daughter of Albert Joseph and Catherine Westwater Rivers. She graduated from Northrop High School in Fort Wayne, IN with the Class of 2006.
Carrissa was employed as the Department Manager of toys and seasonal at Walmart in Keokuk for the past 10 years. She was also employed at the Hawkeye Restaurant in Keokuk.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk. Carrissa was one of the first participants in the Keokuk Police Departments Guardian Angel Project.
Carrissa loved to travel and enjoyed going on poker runs. Her life revolved around her daughter, Skilee, and Carrissa's greatest joy was taking care of her and spending time with her.
She is survived by, her daughter, Skilee Dewaine Keefe of Keokuk, Leddia, Abagayle and Samantha Tallman, who she thought of as daughters, her mother, Catherine Rivers of Keokuk, two brothers, Daniel Westwater of West Des Moines, IA and Derek Westwater of Clarinda, IA, two sisters, Cristyna Rivers and Carryna Rivers, both of Keokuk, Skilee's father, Christopher Keefe of Hamilton, IL, her grandparents, Robert and Cheryl Westwater of Sun City West, AZ and Elizabeth Nelson of Fort Wayne, IN, two uncles, Donald and David Westwater both of Fort Wayne, IN, nieces, Madison and Kindall Westwater of Kentucky, nephews, Ian and Eli Westwater and Hunter King all of Keokuk and Skilee's grandparents, Curt Nichols of Keokuk and Karla Harrison of Hamilton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father and one aunt, Dewaine Lynn Westwater.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.
