Born on January 6, 1944 in Keokuk, IA, Carolyn was the daughter of Willard and Bessie Powers Myers. Carolyn was a graduate of Keokuk High School, Carl Sandburg College, Western Illinois University and Northern Illinois University. Her love of learning pushed her to study in many areas. Her career began at Contel of Carthage as a switchboard operator and then to GTE and Verizon as an information operator. Upon her retirement from Verizon in 2012, she returned to Keokuk. Her winning smile and caring personality left her with friends wherever she lived and worked. Carolyn was an accomplished pianist and organist and enjoyed music from a young age, being taught by her mother in the home. She played for groups during her Keokuk school years and various churches. Her greatest loves were family, children and animals. Her steadfast faith in God sustained her throughout her life. Carolyn Faye Myers died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa at the age of 70. She is survived by nephews and nieces, Scott (Beth) Goodall, Kathy (Doug) Holder, David Lee, Roger Lee and Diane Mann and several great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Max and Don and one sister, Ramona and two nieces and two nephews.Graveside services were held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Sunset Memorial Park, Keokuk, IA.
