Carol Jean Hatfield, 73, of Keokuk passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at Lexington Square Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 13, 1944 the daughter of Perry L. and Mary Louise Hardman in Kirksville, Missouri. Originally from Memphis, Missouri in her younger years Carol lived on the family farm, later moving to a residence in town. Attending Memphis High School, Carol graduated in 1962. Throughout her life, Carol was a dedicated employee working at various factory positions, primarily at Sheaffer Pen in Ft. Madison. Prior to retirement she worked at Methode Electronics in Carthage, Illinois. Carol had a love for music, listening to various local bands as well as attending the Rock and Roll Legends Celebration in Clear Lake, Iowa. Her favorite place to travel was Branson where she would attend country music shows, as she loved listening to "old" country. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Christine) Lake of Kahoka, a granddaughter, Shelby (Martin) Box and a great grandson, Odin Mark Box all of Coralville, Iowa; her sister, Faye Estalene Bennett, a nephew, Ernest (Alice) Bennett, all of Vermont, Illinois and a niece, Kay Bennett of Quincy, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Lloyd Ivan Bennett and a brother in law, Lloyd Bennett. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kahoka Cemetery in Kahoka. Visitation was held from 1 – 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka with the family meeting with friends at that time.
