View Video Tribute Carl Edwin Clair, 86, of Hiawatha, IA, formerly Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, May 3, 2007 at his home. He was born on May 7, 1920 in Albia, IA, the son of Frank and Rose Miller Clair. On October 22, 1966, Carl was united in marriage to Mary Stephenson in Quincy, IL. She preceded him in death on May 1, 1993. Carl was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and proudly served his country during WW II. He had been employed with the #577 Local Ironworkers Union for 25 years and retired in 1983. Carl enjoyed traveling and fishing. He is survived by one son, Carl Clair of Churubusco, IN, two daughters, Rose Clair of Las Vegas, NV and Janet Dennis of West Des Moines, IA, one step-son, Rick Stephenson of Keokuk, IA and one brother, Leo Clair of Pensacola, FL. A Gathering of Remembrance was held Tuesday, May 8, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
