Carey Jo Wrieden, 67, of Keokuk, IA, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Carey was born April 9, 1959, in Carthage, IL, the daughter of Woodrow and Mary Groves Farmer and step-father, Francis William Wrieden, who helped raise Carey.

On July 6, 1974, Carey was united in marriage to Edward “Jake” Wrieden in Wayland, MO. He survives.

Other survivors include her mother, Mary Wrieden, one daughter, Lisa Meyers; one son, Shawn Wrieden (Michelle), seven grandchildren, Dalton Meyers, Cassie Meyers, Hope Wrieden (Troy), Jake Wrieden (Frankie), Danika Wrieden, Sierra Wrieden and Isaiah Burgess (Jaylyn), seventeen great-grandchildren, including Madisyn, Miracle and Meadow Meyers, whom she was helped raise, siblings, Bernell Farmer (Melinda), Tony Farmer, Linda McNeeley, Corina Carle (Rick) and Francis Wrieden, Jr. (Angie) and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and stepfather and one grandson, Brett Edmiston.

Throughout her working years, Carey was employed by Todd Uniforms, Sheller Globe and Methode Electronics. She later worked for ConAgra, where she continued until her retirement in 2023.

Carey was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who treasured her family above all else. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making memories of everyday life. Carey loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time at the river. She also liked relaxing at home while watching the Hallmark Channel and the Falala Lifetime Channel. But more than anything, Carey loved her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she cherished every opportunity to be together with them.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Daniel Duncan officiating. Following the service everyone is invited for food and fellowship with the family from 3-7 p.m., at the Odd Fellows Lodge 13, 1720 Blondeau St. in Keokuk.

Memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
