Candina Lorene Lawson, 34, of Keokuk, IA died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.
She was born February 12, 1976 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Ron and Sue Daggs Lawson.
She is survived by her parents, Ron and Sue Lawson, of Keokuk, IA, one brother, Ron Lawson II of Keokuk, IA, one niece, Alyssa Lawson of Keokuk, IA, aunts and uncles, Sara and Bill Shaffer of Keokuk, IA, James L. and Betty Daggs of Donnellson, IA, Judy Daggs of Muscatine, IA, Sam Daggs and his friend Mary Knowles of Montrose, IA, Ruth Lawson of Carson, CA, Marcia Lawson of Ft. Madison, IA, Jack and Nita Mecum of Sarasota, FL, Joe Mecum and his friend Shirley of Keokuk, IA, and many cousins and friends. Candina had many special caregivers through the years including Norma Woods who cared for Candina for nine years and became a special friend and also Monica Smith.
She was also preceded in death by two grandmothers, Eudora Lawson, Lorene Daggs, two grandfathers, Lloyd Lawson, James E. Daggs, one uncle, Carl Daggs, and two aunts, Garnet Morse, and Joan Daggs.
Candina collected Dreamsicle Angels. She was a donor to Locks of Love and had donated 52 inches of hair in her lifetime.
Candina gave unconditional love. She never complained or blamed. She showed us you can beat overwhelming odds. She showed us that you can only live one day at a time. She showed us what survival was all about and then some. Candina's strong will was a true gift from God.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Area Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
