Obituary

Bonita Mae Campbell Dunlap, 88, of Wayland, MO, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at her home. She was born on January 7, 1927, in Chicago, IL the daughter of William and Verna Butcher Winn. She married Glenn Campbell at Great Lakes, Illinois on May 12, 1945. They were blessed with four sons and two daughters. After Glenn's death in 1981 she married Arthur Dunlap on February 15, 1986. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2015. Bonita was a member of the Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church in Wayland, MO. She worked at Morgan's Truck Stop in Alexandria, Mo; Morse Rubber in Keokuk, IA; the Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington, IA; and at Graham and Keokuk Area Hospitals in Keokuk, IA. She was also a volunteer fireman with the Wayland Fire Department. She enjoyed camping, fishing and crocheting and was known for having one of the biggest gardens in town and as one of the best pie makers around. Each year you would find her happily working in her garden and canning the bountiful harvest of vegetables and fruits. She always had enough to share with whoever needed it. Bonita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and was a devout Christian. She is survived by her children; Glenn, Jr. (Linda) Campbell of Keokuk; Ronald (Sheila) Campbell of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Shirley (Campbell) Daggett of Winterset, Iowa; Stephen (Debbi) Campbell of Keokuk; Kimberly (Campbell) (Tony) Saunders of Wayland, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren; two brothers; James and William Winn of Eugene Oregon along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands Bonita was also preceded in death by parents, son Michael; siblings, Dale and Samuel Winn, Rose Hughes, Barbara Dickerson, and Edith Allen. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Wayland, MO with Pastor Dan Deatrick officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery in Kahoka. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the family for a later designation.
