Bill E. Carroll, 74, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Lexington Square in Keokuk. He was born on May 30, 1931 in Hancock County, IL the son of Ray and Vanetta Sherman Carroll. On September 22, 1951, Bill was united in marriage to Betty Johnson. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Donna McVeigh and her husband Russell of Hamilton, IL, two sons, Dave Carroll and his wife Debbie of Keokuk, IA, and Dan Carroll and his wife Micky of Keokuk, IA, one sister, Dorothy Wardlow of Monmouth, IL, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and two sisters. Bill was a graduate of the Hamilton High School in Hamilton, IL. He had been employed at Amax in Ft. Madison, IA, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the All Saints Church in Keokuk, IA and the Knights of Columbus. He was very skilled in mechanics and in his spare time he enjoyed working on riding lawn mower. He also enjoyed reading. A private family graveside service was held at the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, IL. Memorials have been established for the Lee County Hospice and the All Saints Catholic Church.
