Betty Sheffler, 89, of Kahoka, MO died Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Keokuk Area Hospital.
She was born on October 27, 1926 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Dewey and Edda Mae Sells Kerns. She graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1945.
Betty married Harold Sheffler in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1991.
As a child, Betty started hunting and collecting Geodes. In 1960, she began making jewelry in her home out of polished stones and semi-precious stones. Soon her hobby expanded into a business and she became the owner and operator of Sheffler Rock Shop in Alexandria, MO.
Betty's heart was in her home where she made a lifetime of treasured memories for her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the sunshine of her life and she loved spending time with them.
She is survived by one son, Tim Sheffler, of Keokuk, six grandchildren, April Sheffler of Longmont, CO, Jason Sheffler of Troy, TX, Josiah Sheffler of Lott TX, Desiree Jenkins of Ft. Worth, TX, Machelle Swiney of Palestine, AR and Johnnie Ashburn of Clinton, IA, several great-grandchildren including, Violet Myers, Zachary Sheffler, Seth Sheffler, Alexus Sheffler, Grayson and Taylor Jenkins, Ashley and Joshua Ashburn, Megan, Joshua and Eli Swiney.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Kent Sheffler, daughter-in-law, Donna Sheffler, two sisters, Joyce Denofrio and Doris Bennett and one grandson, Lee Ashburn.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk. Burial was in the Frazee Cemetery in rural Alexandria, MO.
