Betty Lou Mcfarland

Betty Lou McFarland, 85, of Keokuk, IA died Monday, December 25, 2017 at her daughter's residence in Ashland, VA. She was born on September 18, 1932 in Keokuk the daughter of Charlie and Ollie Louise Mathies Young. On August 29, 1948 she was united in marriage to Eldon Clark McFarland, Sr. in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1997. Betty was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Keokuk. Betty enjoyed all types of crafts and creating floral arrangements. She collected Elvis memorabilia, along with Betty Boop, Pepsi, birds, oriental decor and salt and pepper shakers. She is survived by one son, Stephen McFarland, one daughter, Samantha Blanz (Donnie), eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Norma Jean Wright, one brother, Arthur Young, one niece, Barb Burnett and her dog, Pistol Pete. She is preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Eldon Clark McFarland, Jr., Charlie McFarland, Sr., and Clay McFarland, one grandson, Eldon Clark McFarland, III, two sisters, Rhonda Bishop and Mel Young, three brothers, Donald Bishop, Franklin Junior Bishop and Charles "Buck" Bishop and one dear cousin, Sierra "Sue" Bryant. A funeral service was held on December 30, 2017, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor John Heath officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
