Betty Louise Brown, 93, of Keokuk, IA, died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at River Hills Village in Keokuk.
She was born on August 28, 1923 in Arbela, MO, the daughter of Harley and Vera Welfort Summers. On November 10, 1939, Betty was united in marriage to LaVerne Brown in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1983.
Betty worked in the family business and later worked at Mode-O-Day and JC Penneys in Keokuk.
She was a longtime faithful member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Keokuk.
Betty enjoyed crocheting and crafts and had made many beautiful afghans and other craft projects which will be cherished by her family. She also enjoyed playing cribbage, working jigsaw puzzles and going fishing. She was a loyal Iowa Hawkeye basketball fan.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Jay Dee) Tweedy of Argyle, IA, Nancy (John) Tweedy Seabold of Keokuk, one son, Richard Brown of Windom, MN, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one grand-dog, "Max", one sister, Virginia Pojar (Mart) of Nixa, MO and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Evans of Ballinger, TX and a sister, Jeanne Williams of Iowa City, IA.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Keokuk with Pastor David Turner officiating. A private burial will be in the Montrose Cemetery in Montrose, IA.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Lee County Hospice.
