Betty Jean Jones, 93 of Montrose, IA passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Cedar Manor in Tipton, IA.
She was born April 10, 1931 in Ethel, MO the daughter of Estel Pete and Barbara Speak Mead.
Betty was united in marriage to Donald Jones. He preceded her in death in 1994.
For Betty life was a treasure hunt. She was always on the lookout for things to add to her collection including dolls. She was an avid garage sale shopper with an eye for antiques. She also enjoyed singing and researching the history of Montrose, Iowa.
Betty never missed a night of Wheel of Fortune, some evenings you would catch her yelling at the television with the answer to the phrase.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Miranda Jones and Marlana Jones both of Bennett, IA, three grandchildren, Haley Jones, Emmit Garrelts and Cole Garrelts and one great-grandson, Jesse Glasgow. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald Mead (Sue) of Montrose, IA and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Donna Jean Jones, one great-granddaughter, Marly Mae-Jean Jones, brothers and sisters, Bobbie Dean Mead, Iris Darlene (Herb) Jones, Everett Mead and Rosetta Mead.
A graveside service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Keokuk National Cemetery.
