Betty Johnson

Betty Johnson 85, of Keokuk passed away Thursday, October 29, 2026 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA.

She was born March 4, 1941 in Fort Madison, IA the daughter of Irvin and Bernadine Carr Moander.

Betty Graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1959.

On November 29, 1959 she was united in marriage to Larry Johnson in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2003.

She was a member of Melrose Global United Methodist Church.

Betty was a hard-working farmer’s wife who helped in every way on the family farm. Riding the combine was a favorite activity. She enjoyed sewing and loved to cook. She made wonderful ice cream for the annual church social. She also enjoyed taking trips with friends and keeping busy with her grandchildren.

She is survived By her son Mike (Lisa) of Keokuk and daughter Debra (Rob) Ridgway of Keokuk, thirteen grandchildren, Shawn Ridgway, Joel (Taci) Ridgway, Isaac (Lora) Ridgway, Jeremy (Omayma) Ridgway, Amy (Nathan) Hobb, Kaylyn (Kane) Pauley, Becca (Cody) Ryan, Carmen (Andrew) Cartwright, Jason Ridgway (fiancé Allie), Leah Ridgway (significant other Trey) Jarod, Hope and Trevor Johnson as well as 15 great grandchildren.

Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter in infancy, Bernadine Johnson and a grandson Larry Michael Johnson.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at the Scandinavian Cemetery with Pastor John Abraham officiating followed by a Celebration of Life at Melrose Global United Methodist Church.
