Betty Jean Green, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, formerly of Danville and New London, IA, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Solon Nursing Care Center, Solon, IA. She was born on August 2, 1939 in Muscatine, IA the daughter of Ivan and Nackola Ackerson Sellers. On September 1, 1961 she was united in marriage to Joe Arthur Green at the Santa Fe Methodist Church in Ft. Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2009. Betty graduated from the Muscatine High School in Muscatine, IA and from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Burlington, IA. She had been employed at the Burlington Medical Center as a Registered Nurse for thirty years, retiring in 1995. She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Rene Green of Coralville, IA, and Stephanie Lyon of Ottumwa, IA, two brothers, Gary Ackerson of Gold Canyon, AZ and Richard Sellers of Coal Valley, IL, one sister: Mary Jo Grobleski of North Carolina, one grandson, Eric Green and one step-granddaughter, Katie Moffett. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Nancy Hildebaugh. There were no services. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA is assisting the family with arrangements.
