Bessie Ellen Schrapf, 88, of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. She was born on September 30, 1922 in Hahnaman, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Ruby Cobb Manning. On December 28, 1950, Bessie was united in marriage to Martin Anthony Schrapf. He preceded her in death in December of 1981. She had been employed at Caterpillar in Peoria, IL and also at the Thomas and Clark Cookie Factory in Peoria. She was an Air Force wife for 13 years. She was of the Christian faith. Bessie enjoyed playing bingo, working on jigsaw puzzles, going to yard sales, bird watching and fishing. She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Symmonds and her husband Hurshel of Hamilton, IL and Cathy Seltzer and her husband Robert of Keokuk, IA, one son, Darrell Schrapf and his wife Jessica of Hamilton, IL, nine grandchildren, Logan, Tyler, Zach, Nathan, Savannah, and Allison Schrapf, Robert and Eric Seltzer and Cory Symmonds, two great grandchildren, Lily Seltzer and Joey Savoie She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Manning and Elmer Manning and two sisters, Laura Wyrick and Vionne Groves. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday July 11, 2011 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton, IL. Memorials may be made to the Lee County Hospice.
