Bessie Marlene Hyde, 79, of Kahoka, MO died October 21, 2013 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, MO. She was born May 2, 1934 in Memphis, Missouri the daughter of Ivan and Eula Wise Ludwick. In 1952 she was united in marriage to Don Hyde in Memphis, Missouri. To this union five children were born. Twenty eight years later they divorced. She graduated from Scotland County High School with the Class of 1952. In 1960 she moved to Kahoka from Memphis. For ten years she worked at the St. Joseph Hospital in Keokuk. Bessie has a great faith in God and her faith has sustained her many years in the nursing home. She enjoyed spending her day with God. She loved to read the Bible, listen to gospel music and watch Christian television on a daily basis. She is survived by her five children, Gloria Bourgeois of Columbia, MO, Teresa Dunham of Columbia, MO, Steve Hyde and his wife Kathy of Fairfield, IA, Kevin Hyde of Anamosa, IA, and Monica Hyde of Minneapolis, MN, two grandchildren, Trevor Hyde and Hillary Hyde, a sister, Helen Diehl and her husband Dennis of Atkinson, IL and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald Robbins and Don Ludwick. A going away party for Bessie will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Clark County Nursing Home. This party will be a celebration of her returning home with Jesus. Cake and ice cream will be served to all the Clark County Nursing Home residents, faculty and family.
