Bernard "Bing" Land, 76, of Hamilton, IL, formerly of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at the Montebello Healthcare Center in Hamilton, IL. He was born on November 10, 1931 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Sidney and Dorothy Hartley Land. He married Wanda Bouldin on June 27, 1954 in Texas. He married Alice Norris on December 24, 1975 in Hamilton, IL. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2005. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had been employed by Sharkey Trucking and Holland Trucking in Keokuk for fifty years. He also owned and operated Bing's Cab Service in Keokuk for ten years before his retirement. Bing enjoyed driving and he loved his cigars. He is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Pillans and her husband John of Rotan, TX, two brothers, Sidney Land and Wendell Land and his wife Karen all of Keokuk, two grandchildren, Lavon Coop and her husband Vern and Alicia Pillans, one great-grandchild, Zada Coop, three step-daughters, Janet Buehl and her husband Robert of Hamilton, IL, Diana Gatzmeyer and her husband James of Austin, TX, Karen Rupp and her husband Michael of Keokuk, one step-son, Ralph E. Morris of Keokuk, twelve step-grandchildren, twenty two-step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Lee Land, one brother in infancy, Jackie Lee Land, and one step-grandchild, Kristen LeAnn Taylor. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 24 at the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the Lee County Hospice or the Montebello Healthcare Center.
