Obituary

Barbara Ann Babington, 85, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at her home. She was born on July 27, 1930 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Roy and Gertrude Merrick Venning. She graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1948. Barbara had been employed Lee County Social Services for over twenty years. She was a member of the Christian Science Society and Reading Room in Keokuk. She was also a member of the Lee County Historical Society and attended activities at the Heritage Center. Barbara enjoyed being outdoors working in her garden and birdwatching. She loved music and enjoyed singing at church. She is survived by four sons, Thomas "Greg" Gregory Babington and his wife Luann of North Carolina, Bradley Paul Babington of Keokuk, David Keith Babington of Springfield, MO and Mark Andrew Babington and his wife Nikki of Keokuk, seven grandchildren, Rossi Babington of Cedar Rapids, IA, Carley Babington of Des Moines, IA, Paul Babington of Warsaw, Il, Trevor Babington and Anthony Babington of Springfield, MO, Brett Babington and Jacob Babington of Keokuk, one great granddaughter, Laneya Gloede of Cedar Rapids, IA, a step granddaughter, Katy Borders of Chicago, IL and a step grandson Craig Calhoun of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Meaghan Babington and three sisters A Gathering of Remembrance was held from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk. After the Gathering of Remembrance, family and friends were invited to the Cellar Dining Room from 2 – 4 p.m. to celebrate the life of Barbara. Memorials may be made to the Lee County Historical Society.
