Arthur Wesley "Gene" Claytor, 76 of West Point, IL died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at his home. Gene was born March 22, 1936 in Walla Walla, WA the son of Alvin Leslie and Marie Effie Lalumondier Claytor. On November 8, 1982 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Carter in Gardnerville, NV. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Tammy J. Smart and her husband Donald of Carson City, NV, Penny R. Hernandez and her husband Daniel of Chowchilla, CA, Donna R. Stills and her husband Lucas Anthony of Daytona, FL, and Pamela S. Wright of Keokuk, IA, one son, Jack C. Claytor and his wife Debra of Good Land, KS, one step-son, Deward C. Stills of Marshall, AR, one brother, Gary Sharp of Phoenix, AZ, one sister, Carol McLoren and her husband Don of Florence, OR, seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gene was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He had been a truck driver for forty-three years and was employed by several different companies including Royal Express Trucking in Fresno, CA and Hill Brothers in Omaha, NE. He retired in 1998. Gene enjoyed watching the Fox News Channel and spending time with his dogs, Kuju and Gidget. According to his wishes his body was cremated and there will be no service or visitation. Burial will be at a later date in the West Point Cemetery in West Point, IL.
