Arthur Edward Dunlap, 93, of Wayland, MO died Friday, March 13, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
He was born November 21, 1921 in Cyrene, MO the son of James Henry and Mary Melvina Boston Dunlap.
Arthur was united in marriage to Gladys Irene Piersee in Keokuk in 1941, She preceded him in death in 1985. He later married Bonita M. Winn Campbell on February 15, 1986 Wayland, MO. She survives.
He is also survived by one daughter Mary Jett and her husband Tom of Hannibal, MO, one son, Jim Dunlap of Des Moines, IA, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Step-children Glenn E. (Linda) Campbell of Keokuk, Ronald L. (Sheila) Campbell of Virginia Beach, VA, Shirley Daggett of Winterset, IA, Steve Campbell (Debbie) of Keokuk, Kimberly (Tony) Saunders of Wayland, MO, 13 Step grandchildren, 23 Step great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren, one sister, Hazel "Polly" Carlson of Keokuk.
Arthur was also preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Spring and one brother Jacob Moses Dunlap.
Arthur was an Army veteran and proudly served with the 394th Infantry during the Battle of the Bulge in WW II.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wayland, MO.
Before his retirement Arthur was employed at Steel Castings in Keokuk, Central Lee High School as a custodian and also as for Kirby Vacuum Sales.
He loved go hunting and fishing. Arthur was a loving husband, father and grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his family.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Wayland, MO with Rev. Dan Deatrick officiating.
Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service with the family meeting with friends at that time. Burial with full military rites will be held at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans or the First Baptist Church in Wayland, MO.
