Obituary

Ansel C. Lipper, 82, of rural Luray, MO died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO. He was born on April 13, 1925 in Wyaconda, MO the son of Floyd E. and Lelia Bogener Lipper. Ansel was united in marriage to Rovene Acklie on April 20, 1947 in Kahoka, MO. He graduated from the Wyaconda High School in Wyaconda, MO with the class of 1943. Ansel proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II with Company D, 120th Infantry Regiment 30th Division and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, and European African Middle East Service Medal with two bronze stars and the Victory Medal. Farming and family were his life; he enjoyed John Wayne movies and collected John Wayne memorabilia. He also enjoyed researching family and military history. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his family. He was a member of the Ballard Baptist Church and attended the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #1000, Jefferson City, MO, the American Legion Post # 192 in Kahoka, MO, and the St. Francisville Masonic Lodge # 588 A.F. & A.M. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of sixty years, Rovene Lipper of Luray, MO, two sons, Arlen Lipper and his wife Debbie of Kimberling City, MO and Linley Lipper of Luray, MO, two daughters, Kathy Dochterman and her husband Richard of Aledo, IL and Jonna Bell and her husband Terrell of Canton, MO, five grandchildren, Lyndee Lipper-Thorton, Josh Lipper, Adam Lipper, Calem Lipper and Seth Shaffer, one uncle, Howard Bogener of Joplin, MO, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Ansel was preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers, Estal, Leland "Francis", Carl and Hillis Lipper. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 17 at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka, MO with Reverend Kenneth Beckmann and Pastor Paul Kinney officiating. Burial with military rites was in the St. Paul Cemetery, rural Kahoka, MO. Memorials were established for the Sheltered Workshop, St. Paul Cemetery or the Disabled American Veterans.
