Anne Curtis Dodge, 81, of Hamilton, IL, died Friday, September 3, 2010 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. She was born on July 24, 1929 in Warsaw, IL, the daughter of Jessie and Edith Schlipman Curtis. She first married Russell Smart in 1947. In 1969, Anne was united in marriage to Les Dodge in Hamilton, IL. He preceded her in death in 1977. A high school graduate, she later attended classes at Western Illinois University. She had been employed at Lehr and Clark Insurance in Carthage, IL the Iowa Ordinance Plant in Middletown, IA and the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was of the Protestant faith. Anne enjoyed the river and fishing and camping with her husband. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved spending time with them. She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Judy Turner and her husband Michael of Keokuk, IA, her son, James Smart and his wife Maxine of Carthage, IL, two grandsons, Jeffrey Cannon and his wife Carissa of Keokuk, and Rex Smart of Carthage, IL, three great-grandchildren, Katarina Cannon of Kahoka, MO, Jillian Cannon and Cody Cannon both of Keokuk, one great-great-granddaughter, Jenna Page of Kahoka, MO, one step-grandson, Andrew Turner of Aurora, IL, one sister, Sarah Curtis of Clinton, IA and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ellen Daley and Cordell Curtis and one brother, Roger Curtis. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Keokuk Humane Society or the Hamilton VFW.
