Anne C. Coovert, 89, of Keokuk, IA, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Lexington Square in Keokuk, IA. She was born on February 23, 1923 in Argyle, IA, the daughter of William and Vivian Linhart Burke. Anne was first united in marriage to Robert Shark in 1942, and later married John Coovert. She was a lifelong resident of the Argyle-Keokuk area. Anne graduated from Argyle High School with the Class of 1941. She had been employed at Shellor Globe. Todd Uniform and the Free Press, all in Keokuk, Freuhauf in Ft. Madison, and the Hancock County Shopper in Hamilton, IL. Anne enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She is survived by one daughter, Bonita Roberts of Keokuk, one son, Ron Shark of Keokuk, four sisters, Rosemary Durham of Hamilton, IL, Pat Jones of Keokuk, Margaret Riggles and Elizabeth Coovert both of Ft. Madison, IA, Seven grandchildren, Rhonda of Kansas City, Jerry II of Keokuk, Jamie of Keokuk, Travis of Texas, Melissa of Texas, Diana of Texas and Kelly of Texas, seven great-granddaughters, two great grandsons and her special angel, Craig Wills of Ft. Madison, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother, Fern Head Burke (who raised Anne since she was five years old), two brothers, Edmond and John Burke, one granddaughter, Kelli Shark and her three dogs, Daisy, Buttons and Maggie (the love of her life). According to her wishes there will be no services or visitation. Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Humane Society.
