Ann Sinclair Maltby Harshbarger died peacefully on February 8, 2017 in Burlington, Iowa. She was born on May 29, 1936 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin Francis Maltby and Margaret Frances Sinclair. She was united in marriage to Allan Lee Harshbarger on June 20, 1954 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2008.
Ann and Allan lived in Galesburg, Illinois until 1963 when they moved to Louisville, Kentucky where they lived five years before moving to Keokuk in January of 1969. Ann was a member of the Sweet Adeline's Women's Barbershop group in Kentucky and a member of Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church there.
During her forty-eight years in Keokuk, Ann worked at the Keokuk Chamber of Commerce and was employed at Metzeler for over twenty-eight years. Ann held the office of President during her many years in BPW. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Keokuk Unit 41, holding the offices of Secretary, Historian and was a member of the Executive Board. Ann was also active in PEO and was a faithful member of United Presbyterian Church serving as both Deacon and Elder.
Ann was the treasured mother of five children and cherished Granny to fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. According to her, family was her greatest legacy. Through her influence and the lessons she taught, she will remain her family's strength and guide through life.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her step-father, Warren Mac Morris; her son, Robert Harshbarger; her son-in-law, Jeffrey Bliss; brothers-in-law, Eugene Berntson and Joseph Elliott; and nephew, Mark Berntson.
She is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Bliss (Michael Mauzy) of Hamilton IL; Barbara Lofton (Douglas) of Indianapolis IN; Margaret McGhghy (Richard) of Keokuk IA; one son, Michael Harshbarger (Todd Wood) of Clearwater FL; daughter-in-law, Gwennan Harshbarger; sisters-in-law, Arline Elliott and Carol Harshbarger of Galesburg IL; half-sisters, Connie Helms of Galesburg IL and Jeri Kitchin of Monmouth IL; niece, Laura Pedersen (Eric) of Galesburg IL; nephews, David Berntson (Liz) of Tulsa OK and Matthew Berntson (Karen) of Galesburg IL; and several cousins. She also leaves behind dear friends, Jan Carlton, Dianna Bryant, and Abby Etter all of Keokuk IA.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the United Presbyterian Church in Keokuk.
