Obituary

Andrew "Andy" Dunne, 76, of Keokuk, IA passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospital in Fort Madison, IA.

Andy was born on October 6, 1947 in Keokuk the son of Howard and Irene Rudd Dunne.

As a young man he worked at a couple of factories in town and also helped his parents in the family tavern, The Doghouse. He later joined the Keokuk Police Department and worked there for seven years.

He met his wife, Kathy Marlin in 1979, after he had arrested her. They then spent the next 45 years together. She survives.

He then worked as a correction officer at the Mount Pleasant Medium Security until he retired after 31 years of service.

Andy always enjoyed a cold Budweiser with his friends and watching sports, especially football. He was an avid Notre Dame fan. He also rooted for the Chicago Cubs, because his wife wouldn't let him root for any other baseball team.

Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Joseph Dunne, a son-in-law, Tom Washburn, a brother–in-law Pete Davis, three grandchildren, Tyler (Hope) Washburn, Stormi Washburn and Damien Dunne, three great grandchildren, Aurora Washburn, Bless Washburn and Scarlet Washburn and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Tommi Washburn, two brothers, Joe Dunne and David Dunne and a sister, Mary Davis.

A gathering of remembrance will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA.
