Amy Elizabeth Sams, 93 of Argyle, IA died Sunday, July 26, 2015 at River Hills Village in Keokuk.
She was born October 24, 1921 in Mt. Union, IA the daughter of Cary Andrew and Maggie Foster Brown. On January 22, 1944 she was united in marriage to Harold William Sams in Mt. Union, IA. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2006.
Amy graduated from the Mount Union High School with the Class of 1939.
She had been employed at the Central Community Junior High School in Argyle as a library clerk and study hall supervisor for eighteen years until her retirement.
Amy was a longtime member of Melrose United Methodist Church in Argyle.
Amy enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and baking.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Sams Cross and her husband Neil of Des Moines, IA and Nancy Cree of Iowa City, IA, one son, Cary Sams and his wife Nita of Keokuk, five grandchildren, Laura Cross of Pittsburgh, Michelle Cross of West Des Moines, IA, Dana Hemann and her husband Robert of Keokuk, Denise Land and her husband Steve of Keokuk and David Sams and his wife Gina of Keokuk, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and one nephew.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Carl Brown and Gene Brown.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Reverend Neil Cross and Pastor Dawn Butler officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., in the Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Union, IA.
Visitation was after 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the funeral home with family meeting with friends from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Melrose United Methodist Church.
