Amos "Alan" Burgess was born on August 2, 1956 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Howard G. and Edith Horter Burgess. He married Carla L. Hammond Peterson on May 14, 1978 in Granger, MO. They were later divorced. Alan had been employed with MTC-JCJ Trucking in Peru, IL as an over the road truck driver. He liked to hunt, fish, work on cars and drive trucks. Alan especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Amos "Alan" Burgess, 48, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday June 11, 2005 in Fairfield, IL. He is survived by one daughter, Rosie Burgess of Anabel, MO, five sons, Dale Burgess and his wife Amanda of Moberly, MO, Adam Burgess of 29 Palms, CA, T.J. Ikes of Montrose, IA, A.J. Burgess, Gabe Burgess and James Burgess all of Keokuk, IA, his mother, Edith Templeton of Keokuk, IA, his step-mother, Mildred Burgess of Keokuk, IA, five sisters, Thelma Sherill of Keokuk, IA, Kim Korschgen and her husband Phil of Keokuk, IA, Ellen McGee of Keokuk, IA, Betty Gorham of Oregon, and Sally Bennett of Keokuk, IA, nine brothers, Bob Burgess and his wife Sandy of Montrose, IA, David Burgess and his wife Kim of Keokuk, IA, Dan Burgess and his wife Linda of Keokuk, IA, Rick Burgess and his wife Sue of Keokuk, IA, John Burgess and his wife Bobett of Keokuk, IA, Howard Burgess, Jessie McGee and Kevin McGee all of Keokuk, IA and Bob McGee of Wyoming, three grandchildren, Xavier Peterson, Morgan Bohn and Delary Fulton, and special friend Debra Bevard of Keokuk, IA. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard G. Burgess, one child, and several aunts and uncles. A Time of Remembrance was held from 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. The family met with friends at this time. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, IA. A memorial has been established for the family.
