Alvin Junior Newman, 57, of Hamilton, IL died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the Blessing Hospital, Quincy, IL. He was born on March 18, 1949 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Alvin T. and Dorothy Huston Newman. On February 14, 1988, Alvin was united in marriage to Pam Putnam in Keokuk, IA. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Danielle Newman and Megan Newman both of Hamilton, IL, one step-son, Shawn Putnam of Rockford, IL, his step-mother, Edith Newman of Hamilton, IL, five sisters, Addie Mae Deeder and her husband Mark of Pleasant Hill, IL, Betty McKinney of Hamilton, IL, Mildred Haist of Donnellson, IA, Beverly Dochterman and her husband Larry of St. Francisville, MO, and Faye Ellen Campbell of Olewein, IA, four brothers, Larry Hoppe and his wife Janet of Hamilton, IL, George Newman of Hamilton, IL, Marvin Ferrell of Oakdale, IL and Marion Ferrell and his wife Suzzett of Keokuk, IA, several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Newman, his mother, Dorothy Huston Newman Rude, one brother in infancy, Terry Ferrell and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Betty Putnam. Alvin had been employed at Metzler in Keokuk, IA for over 29 years. He enjoyed spending time on the family farm in rural Hamilton, helping with planting, harvesting and the cattle. He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his family. A Gathering of Remembrance was held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 22 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with the family meeting with friends at that time. A memorial has been established for his children's education fund.
