Alma B. Montgomery, 93, of Kahoka, MO died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka. She was born March 26, 1917 in Wayland, MO, the daughter of George and Alberta Shouse Sylvester. On January 9, 1944 she was united in marriage to John Mack Montgomery. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2000. Alma graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1935. She then graduated from Hannibal-Lagrange Junior College in 1940. She was united with the Wayland Baptist Church at the age of 9 and later transferred to the First Baptist Church in Kahoka. She taught Sunday school classes for many years and was also the treasurer for six years. Alma retired from the Clark County ASCS office in March of 1977, where she worked as the program assistant for 24 years. She enjoyed sewing and collected tea cups and saucers. She is survived by her special friends, Norman and Elsie Ewart of Kahoka and several nieces and nephews, Wm. G. "Bill Sylvester, Ferris G. Sonny Sylvester, Marilyn Jolley, Sherlene Vance, Howard Robinson & and his wife Laurel, Jim Robinson and his wife Margie, Russell Robinson and his wife Norma, Betty Heath, Richard Robinson, Donny Robinson and his wife Terra, Kathy Woody and her husband Steve, and Dennis Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Ferris Huck Sylvester and a sister Arydth Robinson. Funeral services were held Saturday June 19, 2010 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka with Pastor Dan Deatrick officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Kahoka or Blessing Hospice.
