Alice C. Hohl

View Video Tribute Alice C. Hohl, 98, of Argyle, IA, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in Hamilton, IL at the home of her caregiver, Janet Johnson. She was born on September 29, 1912 in Franklin, IA, the daughter of Louis and Eva Hohl Mehl. On January 1, 1934, Alice was united in marriage to Willis Hohl at St. Peter's Church in Franklin, IA. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1970. Alice had lived on the same farm near Argyle, IA for 60 years. Since 2004, she had lived in Hamilton, IL. She was a member of the Argyle Presbyterian Church. She had served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Willing Workers Circle/United Presbyterian Women. Alice was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing and had made many beautiful pieces. Alice was a wonderful cook and was well known for her delicious coconut cream pies. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very precious to her and were always close to her heart. She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Carlson and her husband Arthur of Keokuk, IA, one son-in-law, Richard Leazer of Hixson, TN, three grandsons, Marvin Leazer and his wife Amanda of Louisville, KY, Micheal Leazer of Hixson, TN and Tim Carlson and his wife Christie of Thornton, CO, one granddaughter, Amy Lowe and her husband Scott of Mt. Pleasant, IA, three great-grandsons, Johnathin Leazer of Louisville, KY, Chase Carlson of Thornton, CO and Jake Lowe of Mt. Pleasant, IA, two great-granddaughters, Madeline Carlson of Thornton, CO and Allison Lowe of Mt. Pleasant, IA, two step-great-grandsons, Shelby and Samual Hall of Louisville, KY, one sister, Marcella Grossenkemper of Ft. Madison, IA, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by one son, Marvin, in infancy, one daughter, Marilyn Leazer, one brother, Lester Mehl and her parents. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Burial was in the St. Peter's Cemetery in Franklin, IA. Memorials may be made to the Argyle Presbyterian Church
