Mary Jane Stepp, 89 of Keokuk died Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Unity Point Hospital Keokuk in Keokuk, IA. She was born August 10, 1928 in Keokuk the daughter of Richard S. and Helen B. Anderson Tucker. On April 2, 1948 she was united in marriage to Leroy Stepp. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2010. Mary had been employed by Sheller Globe for over thirty-nine years until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk. She was also a member of the Local 444 United Steel Workers Retiree Club and Craft Club. Throughout her life she delighted in crocheting, knitting and was an avid quilter. She also was a wonderful cook and made delicious pies. She loved working on her family history and researching genealogy. Mary loved her four legged friend, Trixie who she spoiled often. Mary is survived by three sons, Gary Stepp (June) of Keokuk, Shawn Stepp of Keokuk and Michael Stepp of Keokuk, one daughter, Lea Hendricks (Ken "Butch") of Keokuk, a special nephew that they raised as one of their own, Everett "Archie" Stepp (Caroline) of Hamilton, IL, six grandchildren, Shane Stepp of Keokuk, Melisa Ann Stepp of Keokuk, Mandy Hendricks of Keokuk, Meriann Bowles (Brian) of Rochester, MN, Patrick Hendricks of Iowa City, IA and Philip Hendricks of Waverly, IA, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Melody Twitchell of Keokuk and three sisters, Judy Tucker of Revere, MO, Dottie Fraune of Revere, MO and Lottie Clark of Blue Grass, IA. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ricky Stepp, three sisters, Patricia Orton, Norma Havin and Edna Radistock, four brothers, Kenneth, Ralph, Raymond, and Robert Tucker. A Gathering of Remembrance with family and friends was at 11 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2017, at the First Christian Church in Keokuk. A private graveside service was held Friday at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk. The family would prefer no flowers. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church Youth Mission Team or First Christian Church Camp Scholarship.
