Larry L. Pence, 65, of Keokuk, IA, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born on August 17, 1947 in Gorin, MO, the son of Edward and Elva Beaird Pence. He graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1965. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Joan Evans in 1971 and to this union one son, David, was born. They then later divorced. Larry had been employed at Sheller Globe and Stone Container in Keokuk. He had been baptized at the Crossview Fellowship Church in Keokuk. Larry took pride in his yard and was very particular about the way it looked. He spent many hours mowing and trimming to keep his yard looking immaculate. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his dog, Peppy, riding along with him. He was a fan of Law and Order and CSI and tried never to miss a show. He is survived by one son, David Pence and his friend Laci Ball of Keokuk, two sisters, Sharon Thomas and Carol Pence both of Keokuk, one brother, Jack W. Pence of Jesup, IA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services with military rites were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 7th, 2013 at the Memphis Cemetery in Memphis, MO with Harold Hamner officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
