Joan A. Cloyed, 72, of Ft. Madison, IA, formerly of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, April, 13, 2006 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA. She was born on April 25, 1933 in Ft. Madison, IA the daughter of Gilbert L. and Margaret Krimpler Worley. On June 21, 1952, Joan was united in marriage to Larry Cloyed in Ft. Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on November 9, 1997. Joan graduated from the Ft. Madison High School in Ft. Madison, IA with the Class of 1951. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA, the United Methodist Women and the King's Daughters. She was also a member of the Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary and had volunteered many hours at the hospital. Joan was a devoted mother and homemaker and greatly enjoyed reading and keeping in touch with friends through e-mail. Crafts were her specialty particularly sewing clothing for her grandchildren, knitting, crocheting, and making Barbie doll clothes. She loved to travel and had been many places in the United States and had also traveled to Europe. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Prather of Longwood, FL, two sons, Larry D. Cloyed of Belleview, FL and Loren L. Cloyed of LaGrange, MO, five grandchildren, Krista Aronowitz and her husband John, Cory Warnock, Tanya Youngmeyer, Bobbie Jo Cloyed and Adam Cloyed. She was also preceded in death by her parents. A Ceremony of Remembrance was held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 18 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Emmanuel Dass officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
