Hilda Sargent

Hilda Sargent, 51 of Keokuk, IA passed away Monday, October 7, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

She was born December 24, 1972 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Carl and Hilda Cooper Bauswell. She graduated from Clark County R-1 in Kahoka, MO.

On August 5, 1994, Hilda was united in marriage to Joe Sargent. They later divorced.

Hilda had been employed at numerous gas stations over the years, most recently at One Stop in Wayland, MO until her health declined and she was unable to continue working.

Hilda enjoyed reading books, crocheting and baking on Christmas day. She adored her granddaughter and treasured the time they spent together.

She is survived by one daughter, Chastedy Sargent of Keokuk, one son, Daniel Bauswell of Keokuk and one granddaughter, Journee Sargent. She is also survived by one brother, Carl Bauswell of Wayland, three nieces, Selena Lawson (Ron) of Keokuk, April Tate and Leddia Tallman and three nephews, James Tate, Jr., Gavin Keefe and Alex Lawson and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Brenda Shuman and one brother, Ricky Bauswell.

A celebration of life was held from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, October 18 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with the family meeting with friends at that time.
